20 illegally transported cattle seized in Dhubri district

DHUBRI: On the basis of secret input regarding cattle being carried illegally in two container trucks and trucks coming via Boxirhat towards Bagribari, a special naka was laid on NH-31 at a strategic location under Bagribari Police Station in Kokrajhar district on Sunday.

A police source informed that two container trucks bearing registration number UP 21 CN 3020 and UP 21 CN 2019 were intercepted at naka point on the same day. During search conducted inside the trucks, total 20 buffaloes were found concealed in special chambers built inside. All the buffaloes were rescued.

Five persons suspected to have been involved in the theft and illegal transportation were apprehended. They are Iklash (50) of Sahpur, district Mujaffar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh,

Md Iqbal (25), village Ajimnagar, district Rampur, Uttar Pradesh (driver of truck no. UP 21 CN 1920), Sakil (60), village Burinafurdh, district Mujaffar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, Raja (18), Irgan, village Paigambarpur, district Muradabad, Uttar Pradesh and Riazuddin (30), Lalunagla, district : Amarh, Uttar Pradesh (driver of truck no. UP 21 ACN 3020).

"The cattle were loaded at Panjipara, West Bengal and consignment was supposed to be delivered at some location in Guwahati , as revealed by the persons detained. Further investigation in this connection is on," the source further said.
