DOOMDOOMA: In a major drive against the sale of illicit liquor by Sadiya Sub-division administration, 20 quarter bottles containing 180 ml Arunachal made indigenous liquor were seized from the house of Hem Bora of Ratanpur village in the sub-division by the Excise and Police team lead by Sub Divisional Magistrates Jahawar Jyoti Pegu and Bhaskarjyoti Pegu on Monday. More than 100 litres of illicit liquor were seized from the house of Gobind Khaman of Baliyani village and more than 80 litres of illicit liquor, from the Government Ration Shop of shopkeeper Jiten Shaikia of that area. The illicit liquor thus seized were destroyed on the spot and cases were registered against those persons by the Excise department. The Sadiya Sub-division administration also issued a statement saying that the administration would take strict action against those involved in illegal activities like gambling in the sub-division. In order to prevent the spread of such social malaises, the village heads were instructed to organise awareness meeting in the villages. As per reports already such awareness meetings were being organised in the rural areas. The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and Acting Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) appealed to the public to co-operate with the administration in this regard, according to a press release issued by the Public Relations Department.
