PATHSALA: Bajali district on Saturday reported five more fresh cases of COVID-19, pushing the active cases in the district to 21.

Though the authority concerned has been making repeated appeals to follow COVID protocol such as maintaining social distancing and wearing masks as precautionary measure, it is seen hat most of the people have turned a deaf ear to the appeal and most people in public places can be seen without masks. There was also a huge crowd during the Rongali Bihu celebration.

The new cases were found in areas like Nityananda, Kharadhara and Pathsala. These people had no travel history according to sources. As the dreaded disease has begun spreading in the district, people should be cautious, said Dr. Munin Talukdar, Subdivisional health officer. He also informed that altogether 1,138 people had been tested in the district so far in the second wave and out of these, 21 were found positive. He also appealed to people to be more careful.
