In the backdrop of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday reviewed the COVID situation prevailing in Dhemaji and Lakhimpur districts at the guest house of Deuri Autonomous Council in Lakhimpur district.

GUWAHATI: In the backdrop of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday reviewed the COVID situation prevailing in Dhemaji and Lakhimpur districts at the guest house of Deuri Autonomous Council in Lakhimpur district.

In this regard, the Chief Minister took part in a meeting with Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner Khageswar Pegu, Dhemaji Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jeevan B and the Joint Directors of both districts. In the meeting, both Deputy Commissioners informed the Chief Minister about the measures taken in order to contain the pandemic contagion, status of vaccination drive, contagion hubs and hospital facilities. On the other hand, both Joint Directors gave him an account on the attempts adopted by the Health Department.

In the meeting interacting with the Deputy Commissioners, the Chief Minister instructed them to create extensive mass awareness in order to make the vaccination drive successful. Further, the Chief Minister instructed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure the wearing of face masks and maintenance of social distancing norms by people in the public places. He also instructed to manage micro-containment zone for COVID-19 patients, to arrange adequate stock of oxygen cylinders, ICU beds, general beds for the COVID-19 parents in the hospital. He laid stress on conducting Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) widely to detect COVID-19 patients. He instructed to ensure strict adherence to the COVID-19 protocol in the Bihu functions.
