24 vultures die in Sivasagar district

DEMOW: A total of 24 vultures died in Sitalia Naojan in a beel of Sivasagar district on Monday morning. 7 vultures were seriously injured. According to Forest Officials due to the consuming of carcass of a dead cow the incident took place. The locals informed the forest officials regarding the incident and then a team of forest officials reached the area and took the 7 seriously injured vultures to the Saragua Beat Office situated near Panidehing Bird Sanctuary on Monday. An investigation is on and a preliminary case has been registered under Wildlife Act by the Forest Department said a Forest Official. Meanwhile the Veterinary Doctor and BNHS officials were providing treatment to the 7 seriously injured vultures in Saragua Beat Office situated near Panidehing Bird Sanctuary. The environmentalist has shown a serious concern regarding this incident.
