26 year old youth goes missing in Jorhat, Assam

Jorhat: Sensation prevails after an engineering diploma holder youth from Jorhat district of Assam goes missing on Tuesday (December 29) 

The missing youth has been identified as Diganta Bora ( 26-year-old) son of Upen Bora a resident of the PWD Colony in Jorhat.

According to media report, his motorcycle, wallet, clothes,and cell phone were found on the banks of the Brahmaputra river.The report said that the 26 year old boy went to Nimati Ghat (River bank) on Tuesday morning.However, no clue has been found where Diganta disappeared and no missing report has been lodged by the youth's family yet, police said.

But after the locals informed the Jorhat police about the disappearance of the youth and the recovery of his motorcycle, wallet, and cell phone at the Nimati Ghat on the banks of the Brahmaputra River, police informed the State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) about the matter and a  SDRF team carried out a search in the river at Nimati Ghat suspecting that he might have committed suicide by jumping into river Brahmaputra, but they failed so far to find any clue.

Diganta is a passed out student of Prince of Wales Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jorhat and was unemployed.His father is an employee at Public Works Department (PWD).

Earlier this year in August in an unfortunate incidet, after going for a swim in Dhansiri river in Bhairabkunda in Udalguri district of Assam a youth named Vishnu Upadhyay (31) a resident of Khangkhalabari village in Udalguri district went missing.Later the SDRF personnel attempted to trace the body, all efforts proved to be futile.

In an another incident, a 21 year old boy from Bongaigaon named Rahul Sharma had gone missing  on August 19 and on the next day his bicycle was recovered by his family members near the ticket counter of the New Bongaigaon railway station.A missing person complaint was lodged with the Dhaligaon police station. However, the youth is still untraced.
