The 27th death anniversary of Noted poet Ram Gogoi was observed in the Namrup Sahitya Sabha auditorium here on September 9 (Thursday).

NAMRUP: The 27th death anniversary of Noted poet Ram Gogoi was observed in the Namrup Sahitya Sabha auditorium here on September 9 (Thursday).
It was organised by the 'Samalaya Kobi Chakra Namrup' in collaboration with the 'Namrup Sahitya Sabha' and the 'Sahitya Kabya Kannan'.
The programme started with the lighting of earthen lamps and paying of floral tributes to the poet by the president of 'Namrup Sahitya Sabha' Monikanta Chetia followed by a short speech.
The meeting was chaired by Jitumoni Saikia -- the president of 'Samalay Kobi Chakra'; and, it was presided over by Sajid Ali -- general secretary of the association.
During the programme, assistant secretary of Sadau Asom Kobi Sanmilan -- Kartik Chandra Talukdar delivered a speech on the life of poet Ram Gogoi. After that, various programmes including a recitation programme was also held..
