Dr Deben Dutta's death anniversary observed as Saviour's Day in Doomdooma

DOOMDOOMA: As per decision of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Assam State Branch and Plantation Doctors' Committee (PDC), the third death anniversary of Dr Deben Dutta was observed as 'Saviour's Day' on August 31 all over Assam.

Dr Deben Dutta, a very dedicated doctor of Teok Tea Estate Hospital, lost his life on this date two years back in 2019 in a mass attack of a section of agitated tea workers of the aforesaid tea garden. This sensational killing of a very honest and duty-bound doctor like Dr Dutta whose whole life was dedicated for the cause of the treatment of the poor and downtrodden people, gave rise to wide protest all throughout the State and was strongly condemned by one and all.

Saviour's Day was observed in Tea Estates like Daimukhia, Rupaisiding and Beesakopie TEs on Tuesday to raise awareness among the people for safety and security of doctors, nurses and other health workers engaged in healthcare services. Floral tributes were paid after lighting of lamp in front of the portrait of Dr Dutta in the respective tea garden hospital premises.
