SIVASAGAR: The district administration is continuing the work of issuing Ayushman Bharat cards to eligible beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act in the Sivasagar district. There are a total of 3,88,955 beneficiaries in the district and so far only 91,855 beneficiaries have received the Ayushman Bharat card.

The district administration is making efforts to ensure that the remaining 2,97,100 beneficiaries get these cards by March 25. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Health) of Sivasagar district, Dr Mandira Barua said that Bank Sakhis, Insurance Sakhis, ASHA workers, ASHA supervisors, MPWs etc. under the Assam Rural Livelihood Mission are going door-to-door to make the cards. Therefore, the Additional Commissioner urged the beneficiaries to contact Bank Sakhis, Insurance Sakhis, ASHA workers of health department, ASHA supervisors and MPWs in their respective areas for this card.

In addition, work is being done at primary health centres in the district as well as in fair price shops. Every beneficiary who has ration card is eligible for this card. The government will bear medical expenses of up to Rs 5 lakh per annum for each beneficiary of this card.
