40-bedded ICU to be set up at Silchar Medical College & Hospital

GUWAHATI: Coal India Limited has inked an MoU with the Directorate of Medical Education of Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Assam in presence of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma to set up a 40 bedded Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) at the conference room of Chief Minister's Office in Janata Bhawan on Wednesday.

The ICU will be built in convergence between the Coal India Limited and government of Assam. Chief Minister Dr Sarma while thanking Coal India Limited for its benevolence, expressed his deep gratitude to the management of Coal India Limited for helping the State government in increasing the ICU capacity at SMCH. He said that the gesture made by the Coal India Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility Programme would go a long way in making critical care treatment more accessible to the patients of Barak Valley Region.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Keshab Mahanta, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Samir Kumar Sinha, Principal Secretary to Health and Family Welfare Anurag Goel, Director of Medical Education Dr. Anup Kumar Barman, Director (Personnel) Coal India Limited Vinay Ranjan, Executive Director (Community Development) Coal India Limited B. Sairam and others were present during the MoU signing ceremony, stated a press release.
