Minister Parimal Suklabaidya hails Cabinet decision to appoint neurosurgeon for SMCH

GUWAHATI: The decision of the Cabinet on Wednesday to appoint a neurosurgeon for Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMC&H) has been welcomed by Minister for Environment and Forest, Fisheries and Excise, Parimal Suklabaidya.

In a statement here on Thursday, Suklabaidya, who is the only Minister from Barak Valley, hailed the decision of the Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Dr.Himanta Biswa Sarma to appoint a neurosurgeon for SMC&H. Suklabaidya, who is also the Chairman of the Governing Body of SMC&H said a long felt demand has been fulfilled by the BJP-led Government following the appointment of a neurosurgeon.

Terming the appointment of a neurosurgeon as a great relief for the neuro patients and their families, Suklabaidya said there were instances of neurological patients with serious disorders referred by SMC&H succumbing on their way to Guwahati.

He thanked the Chief Minister personally for realizing the acute necessity of a neurosurgeon and fulfilling a long felt need of the people of Cachar in particular and Barak Valley as a whole. It may be mentioned that the Cabinet took the decision to appoint specialist neurosurgeon, Dr. Sambuddha Dhar on contractual basis for SMC&H.
