45 High Schools in Assam Upgraded To Higher Secondary By Education Department

Guwahati: On Wednesday, the Education Department of Assam announced that 45 High Schools in the state had been upgraded to Higher Secondary Schools.

The approval of the up-gradation of the 45 High Schools to Higher Secondary Schools have was informed in a notification issued by the Secondary Education Department dated 21st September 2021. 

The notification also listed conditions required to be fulfilled by the High Schools to be upgraded to Higher Secondary Schools.

The conditions include:

1. There should not be any amalgamation proposal.

2. There should be minimum 2 (two) additional classrooms available.

3. There must be minimum 4 (four) members of Graduate Teachers having Post Graduate Degree in minimum 4 (four) core subjects.

4. There shall not be any new post creation.

5. No financial grant shall be given to the upgraded schools immediately.

6. The school must give undertaking that they will run Higher Secondary Classes with the existing qualified faculty having Post Graduate Degree.

The information of the up-gradation of the High Schools was shared by Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on his official Twitter handle. 

Earlier, the Education Minister had announced in an event that all the High Schools in Assam will be upgraded to Higher Secondary Schools by 2022.
