LAKHIMPUR: The number of COVID-19 cases has risen alarmingly in Lakhimpur along with the rest of the State. A total of 54 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in the district as per Rapid Antigen Test results in the last two days. Out of them, 7 cases were detected on Sunday while rest 47 cases alone were detected on Monday.

On Sunday, the District Health Department conducted the RAT on 467 persons across the district while the same test on Monday was conducted on 2,032 people, out of which 54 people tested positive for coronavirus infection. On Monday, the 47 fresh cases were reported from North Lakhimpur urban (2), Dhalpur (12), Bihpuriya (12), Naoboicha (2), Boginadi (4), and North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital Respiratory Clinic (15).

With these newly-detected patients, the cumulative total of COVID-19 patients of the district has hiked to 8,299 since April 4 of the last year. Out of them, 8,038 recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals and home quarantine while there are 200 active cases at present. On Monday, 6 recovered patients were discharged from home quarantine. In the district, a total of 61 people succumbed to COVID-19 till date.
