571st birth anniversary celebration of Srimanta Sankardeva concludes

LAKHIMPUR: The 571st birth anniversary celebration programme of Srimanta Sankardeva organized by Dhakuakhana regional unit of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha along with its 85th annual session concluded on Sunday.

The event was organized under the management of the Bantow Prathmik Sakha with a two-day long programme on Saturday and Sunday. As parts of the first day’s agenda, the ‘Sishu, Yuva aru Aai Matri Samaroh’ was held. It was followed by the last executive body meeting of the regional unit of the organization. Then the president of Dhakuakhana Sakha Sahitya Sabha, Tolan Dutta released the souvenir. Moreover, the delegate meeting of the organization, several cultural and literary competition events, naam prasanga and akhanda naam kirtan at night were organized as parts of the first day agenda.

The second day’s programme began with the unfurling of the dharma-dhwaja by the regional unit president, Nara Phukan. It was followed by Bhagawat Shobhayatra, led by Kinaram Gogoi and Dipak Gogoi. The open session was inaugurated by Dhakuakhana district unit Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha president Pranjal Pratim Phukan while Dhemaji district Pracharak Nitul Baruah graced the occasion as appointed speaker. The appointed speaker framed his speech on the humanitarian ideologies of Sankardeva which integrated the Assamese society wiping out segregation. He laid stress on the adherence of the ideology of the ‘Gurujana’ with a view to build a society enriched with peace, harmony and solidarity. Former central member of the organization, Deva Kumar Gogoi, former regional unit president Purnananda Gogoi, former Dhakuakhana district unit secretary Loknath Baruah and several other dignitaries took part in the programme as guests of honour
