58th Teachers’ Day Celebrated at Haflong

Haflong: Along with the rest of the country Teachers Day was centrally celebrated at District Library Auditorium, Haflong. EM, NCHAC, Elementary & Higher Education Nandita Gorlosa and EM, NCHAC, Secondary & Adult Education Lalremsiama Darnei attended the programme as guests of honour. The programme was organized by Education department of Dima Hasao.

On the occasion a meeting was organized which was presided over by ADC Deepak Jidung while Dima Hasao SP, Sreejith T and former principal of Girls Higher Secondary School Malobika Longmailai attended the meeting as appointed speakers. Inspector of School Biren Singh Engti delivered a welcome speech after which guests were felicitated with gamosa . The programme began with garlanding of the portrait of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and lightening of lamp by the guests. An opening song by the teachers of Govt Girls Higher Secondary School was performed at the programme after which condolence was offered to the departed souls of teachers who passed away in the year 2018-2019.

The days programme included release of souvenir under the name Education; there was speech from the appointed speakers, presentation of token of honour, citation etc. to the distinguished teachers, presentation of gamosa, certificates and mementos to the retired teachers, prize distribution to the winners of essay competition, speech competition etc. and also felicitation to 5 toppers of HSSLC Examination 2019, 10 position holders of HSLC examination 2019.

Nandita Gorlosa, in her speech, stressed upon the teachers to improve their teaching technique. She also talked about her experience as teacher before stepping into the field of politics. Superintendent of Police, Dima Hasao Sreejith T., Rtd. Principal, Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Haflong, E. Sazem and the other speakers narrated about the activities and ideologies of Dr. S Radhakrishnan, the 2nd President of Independent India. The programme was also attended by Secretary, Education, NCHAC L.Z Nampui, veteran teacher Evelentis Suchiang, Rtd. Principals, Headmasters, a large number of teachers and students. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Deputy Inspector of Schools Phuleshwar Nunisa.
