The Rangsar Literary Award, 2020-21 would be given to Anima Basumatary of Guwahati

KOKRAJHAR: The 60th session of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) will begin with a two-day colourful programme from Saturday at Tamulpur Higher Secondary School playground in Baksa district.

As part of the programme, the president of the BSS, Taren Boro will chair the delegate sitting in the evening on Saturday which will be inaugurated by Sahitya Akademi award winner and associate professor of Kokrajhar Government College.

On April 11 morning, the president of the Sabha, Taren Boro will hoist the organizational flag followed by homage to martyrs by Dr. Dinanath Basumatary, vice-president of the BSS. The floral tribute to BSS activists will be followed by Sitaram Basumatary, vice-president of the Sabha while award presentation and felicitation ceremony will be chaired by Ramela Islary, vice-president of the BSS. Local social worker of Tamulpur Lehoram Boro will address the ceremony as chief guest.

As per sources, the Rangsar Literary Award, 2020-21 would be given to Anima Basumatary of Guwahati, the Someswari Brahma Literary Award will be given to Hangkrai Uzir of Hazua, Baksa, the Sanjarang Laksheswar Brahma Cultural Award will be given to Arun Narzary, a noted singer of Gossaigaon, the Habraghat Award will be given to Mahendra Swargiary of Lechera, Baksa and the Bihuram Boro Memorial Literary Award will be given to martyr Bineswar Brahma (posthumously).

Meanwhile, the highest mark securer in Bodo MIL in HSLC, 2020- Dadere Rramchiary of Bathou Ashram, Barimaka of Baksa (99 per cent) and Bibungthi Mashahary of Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma Academy, Kazigaon of Kokrajhar district (99 per cent) will be felicitated and given cash award. Similarly, highest mark scorer in Bodo MIL in Higher Secondary examination- Manju Boro of Goreswar College, Baksa (99 per cent) and Bijuli Boro of NRDS Junior College, Goreswar (99 per cent) will be felicitated and given cash award.

The BSS will felicitate the Sahitya Akademi award winner and recipient of awards which include Dharanidhar Wary, Sahitya Akademi awardee Gopinath Brahma, Sahitya Akademi awardee (Translation), Dr. Ajit Boro, Sahitya Akademi awardee (Children literature) and Newton K. Basumatary, Sahitya Akademi awardee (Youth literature).

The open session to be chaired by the president of the BSS, Taren Boro will be inaugurated by Pramod Boro, Chief Executive Member of BTC, while Padma Shri award winner, noted writer and educationist Dr. Mangalsingh Hazoary will be the chief guest of the open session. Dr. Kuladhar Saikia, president, Axam Xahitya Xabha, Hagrama Mohilary, former chief of BTC, and Biswajit Daimary, MP (Rajya Sabha), will attend the session as distinguished guests while Dr. Phukan Chandra Basumatary, professor of Cotton University, will be the guest speaker.
