LAKHIMPUR: The 6th triennial session of the Sanmilita Gana Shakti, Asom (SGSA) kickstarts on Friday in Dhakuakhana subdivision of Lakhimpur district. The three-day long event has been held at Town Tiniali of Dhakuakhana, the venue of which is ceremonially named as Titaram Gogoi Kshetra. Notably, SGSA, the political party, was floated at Gogamukh of Dhemaji district in 2005 with demand for equal rights, equal dignity and equal development.

On the occasion of the event, 3,000 delegates and topmost leaders from 27 Mandal Committees of the political party, covering the State, assembled at Titaram Gogoi Kshetra on Friday. The agenda of the event on the first day began with last meeting of the executive body of the past session. SGSA president Paramananda Chayengiya, executive president Sunil Kumar Pegu, general secretaries Hiranya Dutta, Raju Khanikar, Purushottam Doley and other office bearers attended the meeting. It was followed by the registration of delegates. The delegates were welcomed with the performance of Tai cultural dance.

The delegates’ session began from 4:00 pm and it was inaugurated by executive president Sunil Kumar Pegu. The delegates’ session commenced with SGSA president Paramananda Chayengiya in the chair. The programme was underway at the time of filing this report.

On the other hand, the main agenda of the event will kickstart on Saturday from 9:00 am with unfurling of the party flag by the president Paramananda Chayengiya. It will be followed by smriti tarpan, several symposia on various subjects. The second delegates’ session will commence in the evening of the same day.
