7-year-old girl brutally killed by miscreants in Dhekiajuli, Father detained

Dhekiajuli: A 7-year-old minor girl was brutally murdered by cutting her throat by unidentified miscreants at Manjuli pathar village in Dhekiajuli on Thursday night.

Local people in the region suspected it a case of rape and murder and demanded a quick investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, the body of the minor girl has been sent for post mortem.

On the other hand, police have detained the father of the deceased girl for interrogation, however, none have been arrested so far in relation to the matter.

According to police sources, the victim's father is a daily-wage worker and they suspect him to be behind the murder. "The victim used to stay with her father and her eight-year-old brother, who is in complete shock," the source added.

Notably, the mother of the deceased girl is also undergoing medical treatment and the condition of the family is reported to be very poor.

Dhekiajuli: In a shocking incident, a 7-year-old minor girl was allegedly raped by a 60-year-old man at Gaiwaiya village in Jahamari area of Borsola constituency under Sonitpur District.

As per reports, there was no one was at home on the day of the incident, thus, taking advantage of the situation, the accused identified as Arun Nath carried out this shameful incident.

Following the incident, Thelamora police arrested the accused and a case was also registered at Thelamora Police Station with case vide no 94/19 under section 506 of the Indian Penal Code and RW/section 4 of the POCSO Act.

As per an official crime report on cases of women related violence has revealed a very gloomy picture of the state of law and order in Assam as far as the last two years of BJP coming into power in the state.

A whopping 4,130 cases of rape have been reported, and over 15,000 dowry-related violence, ever since the BJP-led government came to power in the state two years ago.

Experts are of the view that such rising figures of crimes of sexuality and violence against women could be assessed as an embarrassment to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led state government since it came to power in 2016 while assuring the protection of lives and property of the people.

During the state assembly session, Assam Industry Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said that a total of 4,130 cases of rape have been reported from across the state in the last two years, a total of 15,470 cases related to dowry have been reported during the period.
