70 fresh COVID positive cases reported in Sonitpur district

TEZPUR: One more person died and 70 new positive cases were detected in the district on Saturday. The total number of active cases in the district is 556, taking the total caseload in the district to 8,918 since May of last year till today. These cases were reported from various parts of the district.

Official sources said that COVID positive Dilip Das (60) of Mazgaon under Tezpur Sadar Police station died at Tezpur Medical College and Hospital on Saturday. However, following increasing positive cases, the district administration has declared 25 areas as containment zones in the district.

The Sonitpur district administration, accompanied by Sonitpur Police, carried out drives across the district to enforce COVID-19 appropriate behaviour, especially wearing of face masks and to maintain social distancing.
