71st Foundation Day of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council observed

HOWRAGHAT: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) celebrated its 71st Foundation Day on Saturday. The KAAC foundation day celebration started with paying homage to the former leaders of the district like first CEM of erstwhile Mikir Hills District Council, Kharsing Terang, Semson Sing Engti and the founding president of Karbi Adorbar, Sarsing Teron (Langkung Habe).

Raju Tisso, Chairman and Chief Executive Member (CEM) of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang garlanded the statue of Kharsing Terang and Semson Sing Engti. The tricolour was hoisted at the KAAC Secretariat by KAAC Chairman, Raju Tisso. The Foundation Day celebration was held at Sarsing Teron (Langkung Habe) Town Hall, Diphu.

While addressing the Foundation Day celebration function, Tuliram Ronghang called for unity and to join hands with everyone to build a new Karbi Anglong. The CEM said, "We want to establish peace, unity and all-round development of Karbi Anglong. We want to build a new Karbi Anglong and for it support from all communities, social organizations, political parties and intellectuals will be needed." The 'Team Karbi Anglong' is committed to ensure round the clock development of the two hill districts, CEM further said.

Speaking on the need of maintaining work culture, Ronghang said that the government employees working under the jurisdiction of KAAC will have to give more time right now for the interest of smooth implementation of all government formulated schemes.

The CEM strictly asked all employees of all departments working under the jurisdiction of KAAC to attend their offices right from 10 am to 5 pm. All offices will be supervised by CCTV cameras. CCTV cameras will be installed shortly in every office to keep record of attendance of employees. Employees who remain absent without informing the office will not be excused and adequate steps will be taken against them, Ronghang warned.

The meritorious students, those who showed good performance in the recently held HSLC final examination like Krishnalina Kalita, Memento Natha and Cla-ret Ronhangpi and national award winners were felicitated. Besides, the KAAC employees who dedicated their services punctually were given the "Best employee awards" during the foundation day celebration function.
