76th Narayanpur session of Axam Xahitya Xabha kickstarts in Lakhimpur district
To promote the culture of Assam and Assamese literature, to spearhead the perennial literary movement of the State, the full-term Narayanpur Session of the (AXX), the most revered and pioneer literary body of the State, kickstarted in Lakhimpur district

LAKHIMPUR: To promote the culture of Assam and Assamese literature, to spearhead the perennial literary movement of the State, the full-term Narayanpur Session of the Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX), the most revered and pioneer literary body of the State, kickstarted in Lakhimpur district on Tuesday.
The five-day long 76th extravaganza of the literary body has been organized at Monikanchan Kshetra (Bor Khamti Pothar) of Narayanpur from January 31 to February 4 in festive environment. The first day agenda of the extravaganza began with the inauguration of Namghar, lighting of ceremonial lamps and Nam-Prasanga programme to showcase the noble contribution of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev, the sculptor of the "Greater Assam" (Bor Axam), to Assamese society for its spiritual amelioration.
The Namghar was inaugurated by Janardan Dev Goswami, the Xatradhikar of the Uttar Kamalabari Xatra, Majuli, while the ceremonial lamp was lit by Munindra Narayan Dev Goswami, the Xatradhikar of Belguri Xatra. Then Me-Dam-Me-Phi festival was celebrated. It was followed by opening of the main gate of the Monikanchan Kshetra, which was ceremonially conducted by Girish Chandra Bhuyan, a noted academician of Lakhimpur. The temporary office of the AXX was inaugurated by Bhudhar Phukan, the retired Professor of Madhavdev University.
Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu inaugurated the book fair organized on the occasion. While delivering a brief lecture, Dr. Pegu expressed optimism that the AXX would play pivotal rule in leading an intellectual, academic movement in the State and to establish the Assamese culture and literature in global platform with its unique initiatives.
Then the trade fair was inaugurated by Dr. Biman Chandra Chetia, the Principal of North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous), while exhibition was inaugurated by Prashanta Borkakati, the Executive Director, (HRA) Oil India Limited. The science exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Dipak Neog, the Principal of Dhemaji College. The art exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Pradip Sarmah, the Principal of Kalabari College.
Then the last meeting of the AXX executive body of the past session was held in the conference hall of the Madhavdev University. It was inaugurated by Dr. Amiya Kumar Bhuyan, the president of the reception committee-cum-MLA of Bihpuria LAC. Retired Professor of Madhavdev University, Narendra Nath Sarmah inaugurated the AXX welcome gate near Badala Xatra. It was followed by the inauguration of the delegates' camp, which was conducted by Sumit Sattawan, the Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur.
Then the 'Akash', the programme dedicated for the woman literary activists, was held in the main pandal of the Monikanchan Kshetra. AXX Vice-President Mrinalini Devi inaugurated the Akash event wherein Sodou Asom Lekhika Samaroh Samiti adviser Charu Saharia Nath was present as guest of honour. Simultaneously, the 'Katha Sahitya Sannilan' was held in book fair stage, which was inaugurated by former President-in charge of the AXX, Bishwa Baruah. The event was chaired by Tancheng Khangkeu, the Professor of Madhavdev University.
