DHUBRI: The 80th birth anniversary of Dr. P.L. Oswal was observed at Netai Dhubuni Park here along the bank of river Brahmaputra under the auspices of Dr. Pannalal Oswal Memorial Committee (DPOMC) on Saturday.

Like every year, this year too games among the children and parents including one-minute contest and drawing of Rongoli and musical chair competitions were held.

At the onset of the programme, Principal of Bholanath College and also member of DPOMC, Dr. DhrubaChakrabortty paid floral tribute at the bust of Swami Vivekananda followed by offering floral tribute to the portrait of Dr. Oswal.

A memorial meeting was held under the presidentship of a veteran member of DPOMC, J.M. Surana. The objective of the meeting was explained by secretary general of the committee, Bimal Oswal who briefly presented various social welfare activities that the committee had carried over the last 21 years.

Speaking about good health, Dr. Chakrabortty said apart from food, regular physical exercise and practicing yoga plays an important role in maintaining a good health.

Professor (Retired) Debasish Bhattacharjee while speaking on the life and activities of Dr. Oswal reminisced the days he spent with him and said that Dr. Oswal was truly a man born to serve the people in need.

On the occasion, annual magazine of the committee - Prakritir Pratidhwani (Echoing of Nature) on the theme of COVID-19, edited by Professor (Retired), Devendra Nath Sarma and sub-edited by Professor Dhruba Mahato, was released. A packet of Diwali gifts each among 70 children and prizes to the winners in the competitions were distributed. The day-long programme concluded with plantation of seedlings in Netai Dhubuni Park and Beer Chilarai Park.
