DIBRUGARH: The 11th Rathyatra at Sri Sri Jagannath Temple, Khanikar, marked a historic and soul-stirring chapter in Dibrugarh’s spiritual journey. For the first time, three separate chariots for Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Balbhadra were introduced, placing the temple in rare company alongside Puri Dham itself. The divine spectacle drew over 20,000 devotees, all united in devotion, discipline, and celebration.

On July 6, the temple premises buzzed with creative energy as over 150 students participated in an on-the-spot art competition, showcasing faith through vibrant expression. Riding high on the success of the Rathyatra, an inter-school quiz competition on religious themes brought together 22 teams across 11 schools, blending devotion with knowledge. The quiz, hosted with digital screen visuals, captivated a large and enthusiastic audience.

A felicitation programme that followed was presided over by Paban Singh Ghatowar, Senior Trustee and former Union Minister, with Prof Jiten Hazarika, Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, gracing the occasion as chief guest. Prabhakar Tripathi (DIG, CRPF), Dr Saikat Patra (Mayor), and other dignitaries added grace to the gathering.

Vijay Khemani, Secretary of the Trust, acknowledged the unwavering support of devotees, donors, and administration, mentioning key contributors and expressing deep gratitude to DC Bikram Kairi, SP Rakesh P Reddy, DIG Tripathi, and Mayor Dr Patra for their generous cooperation.

The dignitaries praised the seamless management, spiritual ambiance, and the temple’s evolving role as a center of devotion and culture. Winners of the art and quiz competitions were awarded mementos in an atmosphere of joy and appreciation.

Nalin Khemani, Secretary of the Rathyatra committee, offered a hearty vote of thanks, appreciating every hand that made the celebrations a success. The event was sweetly, professionally, and flawlessly anchored by Supreeti Singh, a law student from NLUJAA, adding charm to the proceedings.
