DIBRUGARH: The sacred and vibrant festival of Rathyatra will be celebrated with great devotion and grandeur at Sri Sri Jagannath Temple, Dibrugarh, on June 27. This age-old festival symbolizes the divine journey of Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Balram and is celebrated across India with immense spiritual significance and joy.

It is a unique occasion when the Lord himself comes out of the sanctum sanctorum to bless the devotees.

“For the first time in Assam and second only to Puri, separate chariots will carry Lord Jagannath, Goddess Subhadra, and Lord Balram, marking a historic moment for Dibrugarh. Ample arrangements have been made to serve Khichdi Prasad to all devotees,” said Nalin Khemani, secretary of the Rath Yatra organizing committee.

He said, “Stations for drinking water, Nimbu Paani, and orange squash will be set up across the venue. The entire temple campus and surrounding areas will be covered with decorated tents and shaded structures.”

“Mobile toilets and hygienic facilities will be available for public convenience. The first floor, temple premises, and side roads will be specially carpeted for devotees’ comfort,” he said.

He said, “A dedicated team of volunteers, police, CRPF Jawans, and civil defence will ensure smooth conduct of the event. Exclusive zones for VIPs, media personnel, and specially-abled devotees.”

“The entire yatra route will be sprayed with water to mitigate the effect of scorching heat. A dedicated medical booth with ambulance backup will be available on-site,” Khemani said.
