A tribute to Biswajit Sarma

Death is an inevitable reality that everyone must embrace at some point and despite knowing this well, the loss of a loved one hits you so hard that it becomes immensely difficult to cope with and come to terms with the reality that the person is no more. Such a heart-breaking news last week was the demise of our beloved uncle, Biswajit Sarma (Titu Mama). This news came as a bolt from the blue to the entire family which has left us all shocked and shattered in pain. An accomplished musician and a veteran of the pharmaceutical industry, Titu Mama, had an extremely energetic and vibrant persona like no other. Having an invincible love for music, the lead guitarist of the famous Denis Banks band in his early days in Jorhat, Mama has helped instil a passion for music in many of us.

No family gatherings could be complete without his jamming sessions, jokes and laughter. And most importantly, his helping and caring attitude, his presence and guidance in the face of any crisis, sets him apart from anyone else. He has touched so many lives by his selfless and innumerable acts of kindness, just giving and never expecting anything in return. Now looking back, I realize that it had become an instinct to call him even at the odd hours for any advice and he will always be available no matter what. It really hurts to imagine that Titu Mama is gone forever but will always cherish the fond memories we have created. Today, on his adya shraddha, we pray to Almighty for the eternal peace of his departed soul and strength for his family. Abhilekh
