UDALGURI: Somraj Sonar, the Udalguri district All Assam Gorkha Students' Union (AAGSU) president, has urged the BTC government to resolve the problems of the Gorkha community residing in the region.

Gobinda Basumatari, the deputy chief of BTC, had said that the Gorkha community people were protected in the tribal belts and block areas and they need not fear for their existence in the BTR.

"We have obligations to the Gorkha community as they have supported our struggle for self-determination," said Gobinda Basumatari while receiving felicitation from AAGSU at Udalguri on Sunday. The felicitation ceremony was held in the office of Udalguri district Gorkha Students' Union and presided over by Somraj Sonar.

Puspadhar Sarma, former student leader, elaborated the mutual understanding and cooperation between the Bodo community and Gorkha community people in the region. He urged to organize a meeting to discuss the issues and problems of the Gorkha community people.
