LAKHIMPUR: "The general conference of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) to be held in Lakhimpur from November 19 to November 21 will be of paramount importance from various aspects. The event will chalk out the future agenda of the organization and adopt resolutions on various burning problems of the State as well as Lakhimpur," said Dipanko Kumar Nath in Lakhimpur on Saturday. The AASU president said so while interacting with the media persons in North Lakhimpur town during his visit to the district.

The AASU president, along with adviser Prakash Chandra Nath, vice-president Jayanta Bhattacharya, assistant general secretaries Samiran Phukan, Dharmeswar Das and other dignitaries visited Lakhimpur on Saturday to take stock of the progress of the preparations taken to conduct the Lakhimpur general conference smoothly and successfully on the designated days. The event will be held at the playground of North Lakhimpur Boys' Government HS School located in North Lakhimpur town.

Dipanko Kumar Nath said that almost eight thousand student delegates across the State would assemble in Lakhimpur to take part in the extravaganza. "At present, the reception committee, covering people from all communities, has been progressing the preparations to hold the event successfully and to host the delegates sincerely. In this connection, we have sought cooperation from the Lakhimpur district administration and the Government of Assam so that the delegates could return to their homes with good experiences and sweet memories. The district administration has already extended cooperation to the reception committee. We have called upon the Government of Assam too to come forward in this regard," Dipanko Kumar Nath stated.

During the interaction with the media persons, the AASU president hinted that the conference would adopt resolutions regarding the anti-big river dam agitation, anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) agitation, flood and erosion problems of the State, burning educational issues etc along with other problems of the State. He further said that the conference would play a crucial role regarding the government's moves taken to settle the border dispute between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh affecting the Lakhimpur, Dhemaji and other districts of Assam.

"AASU has been working with the All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) for long years with a friendly bond under the umbrella of North East Students' Organization (NESO). It will continue in future too. We will keep a vigilant watch on the moves taken by the governments of both States taken for the demarcation of the boundary between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
