KOKRAJHAR: Abhiram Mahanayak, Member of Legislative Assembly (MCLA), BTR from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday was inducted as the deputy speaker of BTR Legislative Assembly during the special assembly session.

The Chief Executive Member of BTR, Pramod Boro proposed the name of Mahanayak as deputy speaker in the house during a special session while MCLA Reo Reoa Narzihary supported the proposal of Boro.

Deputy Chief Executive Member of the council, Gobinda Chandra Basumatary welcomed the induction of Mahanayak. He hoped that Mahanayak would work and assist the Speaker for smooth functioning of the legislative assembly and business of the session.

Meanwhile, Speaker Katiram Boro came down from the podium and gave his a warm welcome. All the EMs and MCLAs of the ruling coalition also shook hands with newly-inducted Deputy Speaker. Mahayanak in his short deliberation said that he would work together to carry the business of the session forward.
