KOKRAJHAR: Once the finest musician of the Bodo music industry during the 1990s to 2008-10, MusukhaGoyary is facing hard times due to his ailing health and lack of income source. He has sung over 1,000 songs and many of his songs have been aired in All India Radio. He is not only a singer but also a music composer of modern and folk songs. A patriotic singer, Goyary had sung Bodo nationalistic songs during the time of the Bodoland movement led by BodofaUpendraNath Brahma.

He had made tremendous contribution in modernization and commercialization of Bodo music during that period of time. He is also a lyricist, music composer and singer who was born and brought up in LaodongaIngtibil village, Dotma in Kokrajhar district. He promoted a talented singer like Gautam Brahma in the Bodo music world. He has worked with many famous singers of the Bodo music industry such as Bigrai Brahma, Sulekha Basumatary and MenokaBasumatary. Goyary met with a major accident and since then his health has deteriorated.

Talking to a section of mediapersons, Goyary said he has no other source of income and depends on the plot of land available with his family. He sought the government's help to re-establish his family and said that he was still ready to perform songs in various meetings and other platforms as earlier to contribute to the society. His projects Monalisha and SwrNwng Anjali with singers like Bigrai Brahma received much appreciation. Goyary in his 50s is still morally strong and intends ti make his comeback.

The department of culture, BTC, extends financial assistance to ailing artistes every year and several artistes have received aid but MusukhaGoyary has not received any assistance. As per allegation of Bodo artistes' association, the genuine ailing artistes are deprived of the privileges offered by the government.
