DHUBRI: A 15-day residential Acharya Training Camp commenced at the Sankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan in Bilasipara on Friday.
A total of 115 Acharyas from across Lower Assam districts including Kamrup, Goalpara, Baksa, Chirang, Kokrajhar, Tamulpur, Bajali, Dhubri, Nalbari, South Salmara, and others are participating in the camp.
To mark the occasion, an inaugural evening prayer session was organized. Lighting the ceremonial lamp and welcoming the Acharyas, Dr Haricharan Das, President of the school’s management committee, said that Bilasipara held a historic place in the realm of education. He noted that during the medieval period, under the Koch kings, Bilasipara, then known as Hakama, was a center for Sanskrit learning.
The event was graced by several dignitaries including Divisional Education Promoter Akhil Sharma, Vice-President of the school’s management committee Dhruvaranjan Chakravarty, and other notable individuals. On the following day, the training programme was officially inaugurated by President of Shishu Shiksha Samiti Assam Kulen Bhagawati, Northeast Zonal Minister of Vidya Bharati, and secretaries Dr Pawan Tiwari, and Dr Jagadish Raychoudhury. They offered guidance to the participating Acharyas and called upon them to effectively implement the educational principles of Sankardev Shishu Vidya Niketans, which are rooted in Indian traditional knowledge and imparted through the mother tongue.
The programme also included a motivational speech by Training Head Manmohan Kalita and a welcome address delivered by Head Acharya of the Niketan Shivaji Karmakar.
