Actor Arup Narayan Sarma’s demise condoled in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR: Arup Narayan Sarma, noted actor, social worker and businessman of Sivasagar town, passed away on Saturday night at a hospital in Sivasagar leaving behind his wife, a son, a daughter and a host of relatives. He was 57. Arup Narayan Sarma was an inhabitant of Phukan Nagar near Water Tank.

Sarma acted as a lead character in Abdul Mazid’s Bon Hongsha. He was involved with many social and cultural organizations. He was cremated at Phukan Nagar public crematorium on Sunday afternoon. Many organizations, including Sivasagar Natya Samaj, Seujia Samaj Sangeet Mahavidyalay, Chaulung-Syukafa Indoor Stadium management committee, Yuva Dol, Sibsagar Press Club, Langdon Club, Sampritee Club, Asom Natya Sanmilan, Sivasagar district and regional units of AASU and noted personalities of Sivasagar mourned the demise of Sarma and paid rich tribute to him at his residence, in front of his business establishment at KPM Chariali, Natya Mandir and Phukan Nagar public crematorium hosted by noted social worker Saurav Chaliha. “His death is an irreparable loss to the cultural field of Sivasagar,” said a friend of Arup Narayan Sarma and noted social worker, Saurav Chaliha.
