Barpeta: Several Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to ADVANTAGE ASSAM 2.0 were signed in the District Commissioner’s Office, Barpeta, on February 26.
Chaired by Rohan Kumar Jha, District Commissioner of Barpeta, the event was attended by entrepreneurs, Kaustav Kalita, Additional District Commissioner Barpeta, GM i/c, DICC Barpeta, and other government officials.
The programme commenced with entrepreneurs joining a live stream of the Prime Minister’s speech, which was viewed virtually in the presence of the respective District Commissioner (DC) of Barpeta.
Rohan Kumar Jha, District Commissioner of Barpeta, inaugurated the session, delivering a speech that emphasized the significance of ADVANTAGE ASSAM 2.0, a government initiative aimed at promoting industrial growth and creating employment opportunities in the state. The DC also highlighted the positive impact the programme is expected to have on the local economy of Barpeta.
Several entrepreneurs then took the stage to address the attendees, providing insights into their upcoming business plans and projects. They also shared their expectations from the government, including the need for continued support and infrastructure development to facilitate their ventures.
The General Manager, DICC, Pranjan Rajmedhi, in his speech emphasized the importance of ADVANTAGE ASSAM 2.0 and highlighted schemes and benefits provided by the Industries, Commerce, and Public Enterprises Department aimed at supporting entrepreneurs. These schemes include financial assistance, subsidies, infrastructure development opportunities, etc., designed to boost the industrial sector and foster entrepreneurship in the region. He also reassured the entrepreneurs that the Government of Assam would continue to offer support and guidance to ensure their businesses grow successfully and is committed to helping entrepreneurs overcome challenges and seize opportunities for expansion.
The MOU signing ceremony followed, during which a total of 75 MOUs amounting to Rs 202.22 crore were presented and signed. This reflects a significant step forward in fostering industrial growth and investment in the region, which is expected to create more opportunities for local businesses and communities.
The District Commissioner, Barpeta, assured all possible support and informed the invitees that the new industrial park under AIDC Ltd. at Bahari of 40 bighas and the newly allotted 20 bighas of land at Sorbhog will be available for intending investors very soon, and more such industrial land will also be allotted to the Industries & Commerce Department of Assam in the coming days.
Healthcare, followed by food processing industries and hotels and resorts, emerged as the sectors attracting the most investments.
