AIUDF demands Governor’s intervention on Goalpara eviction, demands relief for victims

GOALPARA: The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) leadership on Thursday visited the Goalpara eviction site at Hasila Beel under Balijana revenue circle, termed it illegal, and demanded immediate intervention of the Governor of Assam to halt the eviction process and provide food and shelter to the victims.

A team comprising MLAs Aminul Islam and Hafiz Rafiqul Islam, V-P, Hafiz Basir Ahmed Kashimi, General Secretary, and several other state V-Ps, Abul Kalam Hussain, President of Goalpara district unit, and others, interacted with the people facing eviction and assured full cooperation.

Later, the team met Khanindra Choudhury, DC, briefed him about the critical plight of the evicted people especially due to the ongoing monsoon season and asked for his cooperation.

The team also submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Assam through the DC and demanded halt of all types of eviction in the state without proper legal verification, a rehabilitation package for the already evicted and displaced people and all other types of reliefs.
