DIBRUGARH: If the Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP) comes to power in the forthcoming 2021 Assembly election, differences in tea wage structure that exist in Brahmaputra and Barak valleys will end forever, said AJP leaders.

"The daily wage of tea labourers in Brahmaputra Valley is Rs. 167 whereas in Barak Valley it is Rs 135," said AJP vice-presidents Israel Nanda, Milton Kuiyan, and State president and secretary of Jatiya Chah Shakti (JCS), Rafel Kujur and Ajit Majhi respectively. They called upon the people of the State and the tea tribes community to join the newly-floated AJP for the overall socio-economic development of the people in general and tea tribes community in particular.

Leaders of JCS, a sister organization of AJP, while criticizing the ruling BJP government for their utter failure in hiking the daily wage of tea laborers to Rs.351 and to provide jobs to 22 lakh unemployed youths in the State, urged upon the people to give a fitting reply to BJP in 2021 election.

"Defeat of BJP in 2021 election will free the common people from the tyranny of the BJP and save the country from anarchism," JCS leaders added. As AJP president Lurin Jyoti Gogoi has been familiar with the problems of the tea tribes and Adivasi community since his childhood, the JCS leaders believe that the welfare of the tea tribes community is secure in the hands of the AJP.
