GOLAGHAT: The activists of Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuva-Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) Golaghat district unit burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at Golaghat town near the AGP head office on Tuesday to protest against skyrocketing price hike of petrol and diesel.

The AJYCP activists raised various slogans against the Union Government as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The president and secretary of the organization, Abdul Hasim and Nikunja Medhi respectively, slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. They said that due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown people were facing financial hardships. In this critical situation, the Narendra Modi-led BJP government hiked the prices of petroleum products. The AJYCP demanded immediate roll back of the prices of petrol, diesel and essential items.
