AJYCP registered strong protests against CAA in Pathsala

PATHSALA: The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Saturday registered strong protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act at Bajali.

Hundreds of activists hoisted black flags in the locality and burnt down the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The activists shouted slogans against the government and the BJP.

Mridul Talukdar, president of Bajali district committee of AJYCP, further threatened to continue the anti-CAA stir until the Act was withdrawn by the government.

On the other hand, a torchlight rally was taken out at Pathsala by the Pathsala Anchalik Students’ Union following the Centre enforcing the CAA with a gazette notification. Led by Samudra Patgiri, general secretary of Barpeta Zila Students’ Union, Himanshu Sarma, secretary of Bajali subdivisional students’ union, and Biswajit Ganguli, secretary of Pathsala Anchalik Students’ Union, the rally started from the Hari Mandir premises, Pathsala and passed through the Pathsala market. Locals also took part in the procession.
