ORANG: In a strong display of dissent, members of the All Adivasi Students’ Association of Assam (AASAA) set fire to an effigy of Member of Parliament Kamakhya Prasad Tasa at the Mazbat tea estate in Udalguri district on Thursday. The protest erupted in response to the MP’s recent remarks in a media interview, which AASAA claimed were aimed at creating a divide between Hindu and Christian members of the Adivasi community.

AASAA leaders condemned the MP’s statements, accusing him of attempting to polarize tribal voters on religious lines ahead of the upcoming BTC Council elections. “Kamakhya Prasad Tasa was elected to represent the Adivasi community and take our concerns to Delhi. Instead, he is sowing seeds of division among us,” said an AASAA leader during the protest.
