GUWAHATI: After Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam Assembly Deputy Speaker and Bokajan BJP MLA Numal Momin have sent a strong warning against the government land encroachers.

The Assembly Deputy Speaker categorically warned the encroachers and said that "All Bangladeshi encroachers would be evicted from the government land".

"We will continue the eviction drive. All Bangladeshi encroachers would be evicted and we will carry out an eviction drive at Karbi Anglong", he added.

The Karbi Autonomous Council also sought an eviction drive in the hilly district. Revealing this the Autonomous Council's chief executive member Tuliram Ranghang said that an eviction drive would be carried out in the district before or after the upcoming Durga Puja.

"A notice has been served to the encroachers. We held a discussion with the Deputy Commissioner and police on the matter", he added.

On the other hand, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the names of six thousand people of Garukhuti, Darrang out of 10 thousand did not get included in the first list of the National Register Citizens (NRC). According to him only 4 thousand people of Garukhuti where a government eviction drive against encroachers took place recently are really landless and the state government has taken initiative to provide the land. He added that the remaining 6 thousand people have landed in other places. The Chief Minister also alleged that a certain community people have to try to change the demography of some constituencies including Lumding and Barsala. " They want to change the demography of some constituencies. Already, they have changed the demography of the Batadrowa constituency," he added.

Chief Minister Sarma, on the otherhand, said that the reason for holding a state cabinet meeting in different places of the state including Dhemaji is to provide a chance to all the ministers to visit districts of the state.
