All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) condemns killing of contractor in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: The All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU), Kokrajhar district committee strongly condemned the barbaric attack and killing of a contractor in Kokrajhar on Wednesday night and demanded prompt action against the culprit.

A progressive contractor of Kokrajhar, Sibhu Prasad Brahma (48) was killed at Kokrajhari village, ward no. 10 on Wednesday night at around 10.30 pm by a youth. The incident shocked the people as it was the first of its kind since a long gap in Kokrajhar.

Dipu Narzary of Kadamtola assaulted two persons, namely Sibhu Prasad Brahma and Ashok Boro as both of them had interfered in the quarrel between a husband and wife. Sources said that the family members of the injured persons shifted them to MRM Hospital, Kokrajhar but later, injured Sibhu Prasad Brahma, son of Harendra Nath Brahma of W/No. 10 (Kokrajhari village), PS- Kokrajhar, succumbed to his injuries at MRM Hospital, Kokrajhar while another injured person, Ashok Boro (44), son of Sabeswar Boro of village no. 1 Habrubari, PS Dotma is under treatment. Kokrajhar Police team immediately started investigation and managed to apprehend the accused person, Dipu Narzary (19), son of Ansaigwra Narzary of Kadamtola, from Runikhata, North Salbari, under Runikhata PS in Chirang district on Thursday early in the morning. Further legal action is going on. In this, connection, Kokrajhar PS case no. 380/2021, U/S- 120(B)/326/302 IPC has been registered.

Dipu Narzary , who worked as delivery boy in courier service company in Kokrajhar, lived in a rented house in Kokrajhar. He quarreled with his wife and created an unpleasant situation due to which the landlord called Sibhu and his friend who were neighbours to calm down the youth. But Diphu attacked them in front of the gate and severely injured Sibhu.

The president of Kokrajhar district committee, ABSU, Khampa Basumatary strongly condemned the incident and demanded stringent action against the culprit.
