KOKRAJHAR: The All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU), Kokrajhar district committee, Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS), Boro Somaj, Tribal Sangha and Bodo Primary Teachers' Association on Saturday staged a 2-hour sit-in at Bodofa UN Brahma Children Park here demanding high level inquiry into the inhumane murder of the headmaster of No. 918 Khumguri LP School Berlao Berthao Brahma on Thursday evening by unknown miscreants. The agitators shouted various slogans demanding stringent punishment of the culprits.
The general secretary of ABSU, central committee Khanindra Basumatary said while addressing before the agitators that the murder of the headmaster Berlao Berthao Brahma of Tinkhona village under Kokrajhar PS by unknown miscreants has brought a sense of insecurity among the people in the locality. He said peace has prevailed in the region but this incident has brought a question on the safety and security of common masses. He demanded that the culprits must be brought to book and given stringent punishment. He also demanded that the Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma should take appropriate measures to check the miscreants.
Meanwhile, the Kokrajhar district committee, ABSU along with other organizations expressed deep sorrow on the killing of the headmaster. They said late Berlao Berthao Brahma was a social activist and an innocent person but became the victim of a planned murder.
After the protest, the Kokrajhar district committee, ABSU along with other democratic organizations submitted a memorandum to Assam Chief Minister through Kokrajhar DC.
