All Koch-Rajbongshi Students’ Union (AKRSU) bandh hits normal life in state

Kokrajhar: The 36-hour Assam bandh call given by the (All Koch-Rajbongshi Students’ Union) AKRSU to demand the creation of separate Kamatapur state and ST status to the Koch Rajbongshi community, passed off peacefully on the first day on Wednesday. Markets and business establishments remained closed; long-distance vehicles and commercial trucks did not ply on the road other than private vehicles while government offices recorded thin attendance. Educational institutions functioned normally while heavy trucks passed with a police escort in the national highway. No untoward incident was reported from any part of the district.

Bongaigaon: The 36-hour AKRSU bandh hit normal life in Bongaigaon on the first day. During the bandh, movement of all commercial vehicle, shops, and markets remained closed. But educational institutions remained open. No unwanted incident was reported but picketers burnt tyre in several places.
