All Udalguri Contractors' Association stages dharna

KALAIGAON: All Udalguri Contractor Association staged dharna in front of the office of the Executive Engineer, Dhanshiri Project Division recently. They alleged that the department concerned had not paid money after completion of a scheme named Dhanshiri Irrigation Project under NABARD-LTIF for the year 2020-21.

Kamal Daimari, president of All Udalguri Contractor Association, told media persons that the estimated fund amount was released by the general manager of NABARD to the Government of Assam on January 22. The manager instructed to expend the fund within March, 2021. The contractors completed the work on time, just as they had assured the Commissioner Secretary of the Irrigation Department, Assam Government. But the department concerned has allegedly not paid the money to the contractors for the work done.

Consequently, the All Udalguri Contractor Association staged protest and alleged that the fund for this scheme had been diverted to another scheme. The association also threatened to stage hunger strike if the authority concerned did not pay the money soon.
