DOOMDOOMA: The All Moran Students' Union (AMSU) Kakapather Regional Committee, through a memorandum urged the Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday to take steps for establishing permanent swab testing centres in a number of places in and around Kakapather in view of the panic in the area after detection of a coronavirus positive case in Bilashpur Line of nearby Tongona TE on Sunday.

The reason for the panic is that the person named Ramesh Bakshi (31), who works in Guna Nagar, Arunachal Pradesh, came to his house in Tongona TE 10 days before imposition of lockdown. He reportedly visited a number of hospitals by boarding hired Magic vehicles and auto rickshaws and came in contact with many persons in the process. When it was revealed that he tested coronavirus positive as per report of ICMR, Lahoal on Sunday, sensation gripped the Kakapather and Tongona areas.

However, according to the statement of Ramesh Bakshi, he did not board any shared Magic vehicle or auto rickshaw to go anywhere nor did he go out for shopping. He rather used his own motorbike to go to different hospitals. Even so, the Moran students' body in the memorandum urged upon the DC to take steps to sanitize the Tongona TE, Tongona Bazar and the entire commercial centre of Kakapather where the mobilization of people was maximum. Second and more important, the student body urged the district administration to set up permanent swab testing centres in all the places mentioned above, besides in Kakapather Block Primary Health Centre also.

In the meanwhile, Bilashpur line of Tongona TE was declared containment zone although Ramesh Bakshi sought to justify himself as home quarantined.
