JORHAT: Provincialized ME (Middle English) Senior School Teachers' Association of Jorhat district staged protest in front of the District Inspector of School office demanding a high-level inquiry into anomalies in appointment of teachers to ME schools provincialized by the government recently.

In Jorhat district, at least 20 teachers who had retired got appointment letters, 10 teachers who had been TET appointed were also appointed and were drawing dual salary fraudulently, as alleged by the association.

The association demanded that the Deputy Commissioner's conduct an inquiry and the appointment process should be declared null and void by a court of law till the appointment anomalies were sorted out. The association further demanded an investigation by the CID and an inquiry by the CM's Vigilance and Anti-Corruption cell.

The association further alleged that about 130 teachers in Jorhat had not been appointed after the schools had been provincialized by the government. It alleged large-scale anomalies in the recruitment process as teachers who had died or had retired had been appointed, but those who were still serving had been left out. The association further said that rules had been violated in the appointment of several Hindi teachers.
