Silchar : In a bid to reach out to the mass people, the APCC president Bhupen Borah launched the “Congress at your doorstep” drive in the Barak Valley. On Thursday, Bora along with the party leaders of the three districts of the valley addressed a modest gathering at the residence of Himangshu Debroy, a block Congress president in Rankrishnanagar. Maintaining that he had no intention to deliver any lecture, Borah said, he had come to the doorsteps of the commoners to listen to the plight they had living in the BJP regime. Underlining various misdeeds of the BJP governments, both in the centre as well as in the state, Borah said, excessive price rise of the essential commodities had made the life of a common man utterly miserable.
Earlier in Udharbond, Bora blamed the Himanta Biswa Sarma government for depriving the tea tribe community youths of jobs. “You believed in the rhetoric of the BJP leaders in the last election. And you have been badly betrayed by the government. Now it is your term to pay them back”, Bora said. He also underlined the various allegations of corruption against the state government and assured that the Congress would definitely form the next government and all the corruption charges would be investigated into.
In the three-day Barak Valley tour with his ‘Congress at your doorstep’ programme, the APCC president was scheduled to attend at least seven such gatherings.
