Army personnel arrested for attacking on-duty police official at Nagaon

NAGAON: Pabitra Medhi, an army personnel who was in civil dress, was arrested by Nagaon police for alleged involvement in a scuffle with an on-duty police official during ‘Basanta Utsav’ on Saturday night here at Nagaon Nehrubali field.

Sources claimed that the arrested army personnel was on leave at his Morigaon village and came to watch Zubeen Garg’s musical extravaganza during ‘Basanta Utsav’. The army personnel first indulged in a war of words with the police official for reasons unknown and amidst it, the army personnel suddenly allegedly attacked the police official and pushed a big blow on his face following which the on-duty police personnel immediately resorted to baton charge on him and also picked him up on spot, sources added.
