Army recruitment racket busted, five arrested by Tezpur Police

Tezpur: Tezpur police busted a gang involved in fleecing money from unemployed youths in the name of providing jobs in the Army and arrested five persons in this connection, the police said on Thursday. Acting on a tip-off, a team of Tezpur police led by DSP, Sonitpur, Dr. Rashmi Rekha Sharma and IC, Salonibari OP, Pranjal Kumar Nath has arrested five persons for allegedly running a fake Army recruitment racket. They were arrested on Wednesday night from the Parua area and two bikes and seven mobile phones were recovered from their possession.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Sonitpur, Numal Mahatta said the accused have been identified as Uttam Dey (47), Sanjib Dutta (37), Ashim Sharma (35), Kiran Talukdar (58) and Amit Sharma (44). A case 415/ 20 U/S 420/ 406 IPC has been registered against them, Mahatta added.
