TINSUKIA: In view of thousands of tourists from Assam visiting highly accident-prone Mayudia in Arunachal Pradesh to experience snowfall and the serene beauty of mountain, the Deputy Commissioner of Lower Dibang Valley in Roing has imposed restriction up to 50 tourist vehicles per day to Mayudia pass to ensure safe passage of visitors and has also appealed to support in their campaign for plastic-free Lower Dibang Valley and to keep the mountain clean and green.

In an appeal to the Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, the Deputy Commissioner of Lower Dibang Valley Roing urged upon the former to make awareness among the mountain and nature lovers of Assam, who intend to visit Mayudia Pass and other places of Arunachal, to follow the restrictions and guidelines.

Underlining the condition of the road and safety of visitors, the letter stated that the road being too narrow with sharp zigzags having no provision of parking, several mishaps had occurred in the past. Some tourists drive vehicles bluntly under the influence of intoxicant drinks. Besides, tourists coming from Assam carry lot of plastic materials like water bottles, chips packets and eatable items which they litter indiscriminately. The letter added further that the officials and police personnel manning Shantipur Check Post at the Assam-Arunachal border have been asked to ensure proper briefing to the tourists about safety guidelines and environmental protocols.
