NAGAON: The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) has continued protest against New Delhi's decision to continue the Lower Subansiri Hydroelectric Power Project (LSHEP) construction work.

The Nagaon unit of the organization tried to stop four Gerukamukh-bound machine-carrying trucks at NH-37 on Sunday night. The trucks uploaded heavy transformers from NHPC's Nagaon godown and were moving towards the project site. The incident took place at Uroagaon, 5 km from Nagaon district headquarter.

Five AJYCP activists were arrested from the site by Nagaon police on Monday morning. They were later freed on bail.
