BOKAKHAT: The 12th Annual Rongali Bihu Sammelan, organized by the Bokakhat district Moina Parijat, was successfully held today at the Parijat Bhawan in Bokakhat.
The programme began in the morning with the flag hoisting ceremony by Parijat President Kailash Saikia, joined by 12 other prominent individuals. This was followed by a tribute ceremony led by child prodigy Surendranath Gogoi. Twelve distinguished personalities from Bokakhat also took part in the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The newly-constructed stage was inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting by noted social worker Rajendra Prasad Nimodiya.
The cultural performances by children, reflecting Assam’s rich folk traditions, captivated the audience. The Moina Parijat members respectfully honoured their elders on stage with bihuwan, thuria, and tamol (traditional Assamese tokens of respect).
Anchored by Ananta Hazarika and Dalimi Sandkoi, the event also included various competitions such as Huchori (group Bihu song), Bihunam, and Bihu dance, enthusiastically participated in by the Moina children.
